West Bloomfield Township does not provide a tree removal service. Tree removal and expenses are the responsibility of the homeowner. If your property is located outside of a designated woodland, delineated wetland or 25 foot Environmental Feature Setback, the township does not regulate trees. However, you should check with your homeowners association to make sure it is ok with them first.
Environmental Feature Setback (EFS)
An EFS is an area of regulated land that extends 25 feet from a wetland or watercourse. Trees and vegetation within an EFS may not be disturbed without a permit.
Trees Located Within EFS, Wetland or Woodland
If your property is located within a regulated area, you must contact Planning & Development Services Department prior to disturbing trees. If you believe the tree is dead, dying or diseased, a staff member will assess the situation and advise you how to proceed with trimming or removal.
If the Township determines a tree is not dead, dying or diseased, a permit will be required.
Our staff is always available to assist you with questions or to schedule an inspection of your property, please feel free to contact us at anytime. 248-451-4818
