Township Supervisor

Office Overview

The Township Supervisor oversees the Police, Fire, Building, Development Services, Engineering, Environmental, Code Enforcement, Human Resources, Information Technology, Budgeting, Assessing, and Water and Sewer Departments. Steven Kaplan was elected in 2016 as the West Bloomfield Township Supervisor. Kris D'Arcy is the Supervisor's Executive Assistant. The Township Supervisor is "frequently the first official contacted about any township business or complaint and is often perceived as the township spokesperson. The supervisor serves as agent for the township for all legal transactions. The supervisor also acts as the moderator of any township meeting responsible for regulating the proceedings of any meeting."*  

By statute, the Township Supervisor is also the Chief Assessing officer for the township. All department heads at the township report to the Township Supervisor, with the exception of the Clerk and Treasurer's Departments.
